Sea Surface Energy Fluxes' Response to the Quasi‐Biweekly Oscillation: A Case Study in the South China Sea

چکیده

Abstract The South China Sea (SCS) owns the world's strongest quasi‐biweekly oscillation (QBWO) in boreal summer, but mechanism is still unclear. This case study summarizes two modes of QBWO over summer SCS 2019 by using empirical orthogonal function on 10–20‐day bandpass‐filtered outgoing longwave radiation fields. maximum positive irradiance anomalies for are 90 W m −2 . upward solar and downward own about 4%–8% magnitude, surface shows a weak response. turbulent heat fluxes' responses to display different spatial patterns compared fluxes. Their changes mainly ascribed wind Mode1 air‐sea thermal contrast Mode2. We also discuss cause impact sea fluxes QBWO.

Remotely Sensed Study of Air-sea CO2 Fluxes Variability in the Northern South China Sea

The CO 2 source or sink status and variability in the coastal ocean are the subjects of highly debate. Satellite remote sensing offers an avenue for expanding observations and analyzing temporal and spatial variability of the environment of the ocean. In the present study, the algorithm for surface layer seawater partial pressure of CO 2 (pCO 2sw) of the northern South China Sea (NSCS) was appl...

Satellite-derived surface water pCO2 and air–sea CO2 fluxes in the northern South China Sea in summer

An empirical approach is presented for the estimation of the partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2) and air–sea CO2 fluxes in the northern South China Sea in summer using satellite-derived sea surface temperatures (SSTs), chlorophyll-a (Chl a) concentrations, and wind fields. Two algorithms were tested. The first used an SST-dependent equation, and the other involved the introduction of Chl ...
